LA STORIA - The story

 

Ia Poseidon Spearfish nasce ufficialmente nel 2015 da un'intuizione di Giuseppe Testaverde, membro del team ROIsub Italia. L'idea era quella di abbinare finalmente in maniera professionale i sistemi di propulsione di terza, quarta e quinta generazione (Fusion, Demo, Fusion K Demo) ad un materiale dalla bellezza senza tempo, il legno, sino ad andare oltre il conosciuto lanciado per primi sul mercato mondiale nel 2019 il sistema propulsivo di sesta generazione Fusion K Demo Invert. Il raggiungimento di questo obiettivo ha richiesto tre anni grazie ad un approccio strettamente scientifico. Partendo dagli studi di progettazione attraverso la valutazione idrodinamica e la sperimentazione di diversi materiali, ogni aspetto è stato esplorato a fondo per trovare la soluzione migliore. In questo processo è stata fondamentale la collaborazione di progettisti CAD, ingegneri navali e artigiani del legno, le massime professionalità italiane del settore. Ogni stile di pesca subacquea ha un sistema di propulsione dedicato; quindi, attorno a ciascuno di essi abbiamo prodotto un fusto distinto con pesi, masse e materiali specifici in grado di esaltarne la resistenza e le prestazioni. Ogni fucile Phoseidon è creato per raggiungere i 3 obiettivi fondamentali di un fucile perfetto: neutralità al galleggiamento, totale assenza di rinculo, prestazioni eccezionali… e perché no, con la bellezza di un vero pezzo di artigianato Made in Italy!

 

The Phoseidon Spearfish was officially born in 2016 following an intuition of Giuseppe Testaverde, a member of the ROIsub Italia team. The idea was to finally professionally combine the third, fourth and fifth generation propulsion systems (Fusion, Demo, Fusion K Demo) to a material of timeless beauty, the wood, going beyond the known, being the first in the world to launch the sixth-generation Fusion K Demo Invert propulsion system onto the market in 2019. Achieving this goal took 3 years because of a strictly scientific approach. Starting from the design studies through hydrodynamic evaluation and testing different materials, every aspect was deeply explored in order to find the perfect one. During this process the collaboration of CAD designers, naval engineers and wood artisans, the highest Italian professionals in the sector, was crucial. Every spearfishing style has a suitable propulsion system so, all around each one of them, we produced a distinct barrel with specific weights, masses and materials that can enhance its strength and its performance. Every Phoseidon speargun is created to reach the 3 fundamental objectives of a perfect speargun: neutrality to buoyancy, total absence of recoil, outstanding performances… and why not, with the beauty of a real artisanal Made in Italy!

 

TECNOLOGIA E ARTIGIANALITA' - Technology and handcraft

 

Creare il perfetto arbalete in legno richiede un lavoro sia industriale che artigianale, per questo abbiamo scelto di unire la tecnologia delle macchine a controllo numerico con la sapienza degli artigiani italiani. Inoltre integriamo nel nostro sistema produttivo passaggi che prima venivano riservati solo alla costruzione degli yacht di lusso. Ogni singola fase produttiva è curata personalmente da Giuseppe Testaverde, dalla scelta delle materie prime, all'assemblaggio e al collaudo finale in vasca di tiro per garantirne la qualità. Ogni fucile è personalizzabile al 100% e viene quindi prodotto in base alle esigenze del cliente.

 

Creating the perfect wooden speargun needs both industrial and artisanal work, so we chose to combine the numerically controlled machines technology with the wisdom of Italian craftsmen. Furthermore we integrate in our production system, steps that were previously reserved only for the luxury yachts construction. Every single production phase is personally overseen by Giuseppe Testaverde, from the choice of raw materials, to assembly and final testing in the tank in order to garantuee the quality. Each speargun is 100% customizable and is thus produced according to the customer's needs.

 

Per i nostri fusti selezioniamo manualmente le migliori assi stagionate di legno (Mogano Sappelli, Okoumè, Padouk, Iroko, Zebrano, Tek) a seconda del modello e le incolliamo sempre manualmente con un prodotto specifico utilizzato nella cantieristica navale di alto livello (con resistenza quattro volte superiore rispetto alla tradizionale resina epossidica). I listelli così composti passano attraverso macchine computerizzate a controllo laser con le quali otteniamo fusti lavorati al 50%. A questo punto entrano in gioco i nostri artigiani, che lavorano manualmente i fusti, controllando che siano privi di imperfezioni e che abbiano tutti gli stessi pesi e volumi.

 
For our barrels we manually select the best aged wooden planks (Sapele Mahogany, Okoumè, Padouk, Iroko, Zebrawood, Tek) depending on the model and we always manually glued them with a specific product used in the top level shipbuilding industry (with four times endurance compared with the traditional epoxy resin). The planks thus composed pass through computerized laser-controlled machines with which we obtain 50% worked barrels. At this point our craftsmen come into play, who work the barrels by hands, checking that they are without any imperfections and that they all have the same weights and volumes.

 

Nella fase successiva i fusti ricevono la rifinitura finale, affidata ad un liutaio, il massimo esperto nella lavorazione dei legni pregiati. A questo punto il fusto è pronto al 90% ed entra nella cabina di verniciatura dove viene verniciato con prodotti di ultima generazione, specifici per il legno ed utilizzati solo nei cantieri navali: due mani di sigillante per legno (doppia penetrazione della porosità del legno rispetto alla tradizionale resina epossidica ), due mani di vernice acrilica (per yacht ad alte prestazioni), una mano di vernice antigraffio con finitura lucida scelta dal cliente. L'ultima fase della produzione viene eseguita direttamente da Giuseppe Testaverde: l'assemblaggio finale. Seguendo le richieste del cliente, su ogni singolo fucile viene montato un allestimento esclusivo e viene effettuato il collaudo finale in vasca di tiro per verificare che ogni caratteristica dell'arma sia rispettata.

 

In the next phase the barrels receive the final finishing, entrusted to a luthier, the best expert in the processing of fine woods. At this point the barrel is 90% ready and goes into the painting booth where it is painted with latest generation products, specific for wood and used in shipyard only: two coats of wood sealing (double wood-porosity penetration compared with the traditional epoxy resin), two coats of acrylic paint (for yacht high performances), one coat of cut resistant paint with the gloss finish chosen by the customer. The last step of production is performed directly by Giuseppe Testaverde: the final assembly. Following the customer’s requests, an exclusive fitting out is set on each single speargun and the final test is performed in a firing tank to verify that every characteristic of the weapon is fulfilled.

cylindricum"

Provenienza: Camerun, Gabon, Costa d'Avorio, Congo (Africa centrale)

Caratteristiche: è un legno rosso-bruno profondo, resistente, duro e flessibile, con una tessitura a grana fine e venature che possono presentare effetti iridescente. Viene utilizzato per mobili di pregio, parquet, strumenti musicali (chitarre e pianoforti) e interni di imbarcazioni extra lusso.

Scientific name: Entandrophragma cylindricum
Origin: Camerun, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Congo (Central Africa)
Characteristics: It is a deep reddish-brown wood, strong, hard, and flexible, with a fine-grained texture and veins that may display iridescent effects. It is used for high-end furniture, parquet flooring, musical instruments (guitars and pianos), and the interiors of luxury yachts.

OKOUME'

 

Nome scientifico: "Aucomea Klaineana"

Provenienza: Gabon (Africa tropicale).

Caratteristiche: è un legno dal colore variabile dal rosa pallido al giallo, con grana dritta ma a volte intrecciata, caratterizzato da una tessitura media. È un legno semiduro, leggero e stabile, apprezzato per l'alta durabilità e la resistenza all'umidità, il che lo rende ideale per pannelli in uso nautico,  arredi e strutture da esterno.

Origin: Gabon (Tropical Africa).
Characteristics: It is a wood with a color ranging from pale pink to yellow, with a straight but sometimes interlocked grain, and a medium texture. It is semi-hard, lightweight, and stable, valued for its high durability and resistance to moisture, which makes it ideal for marine panels, furniture, and outdoor structures.

IROKO

 

Nome scientifico: "Chlorofora excelsa"

Provenienza: Sierra Leone, Angola, Congo, Kenya, Etiopia (Africa Tropicale)

Caratteristiche: è un legno noto per la sua stabilità, durabilità e resistenza all'umidità, che lo rendono ideale per parquet, decking e infissi esterni, specialmente in zone marine. Ha una colorazione che varia dal giallo dorato al bruno scuro, venature marcate e una tessitura fine con fibratura talvolta intrecciata.

Its color ranges from golden yellow to dark brown, with pronounced veins and a fine texture, sometimes with interlocked grain.

ZEBRAWOOD

 

Nome scientifico: "Microberlinia Brazzavillensis"

Provenienza: Camerun, Gabon, Congo (Africa Occidentale).

Caratteristiche: :è un legno dal colore bruno con venature più scure, quasi nere molto marcate che gli conferiscono il suo aspetto inconfondibile. Tessitura medio fine con fibra incrociata, è un legno duro e pesante con buone caratteristiche tecniche ma di difficile lavorazione. E' di solito utilizzato in ebanistica di pregio.

Origin: West Africa
Characteristics: It is a brown wood with very pronounced darker, almost black veins that give it its unmistakable appearance. With a medium-fine texture and interlocked grain, it is a hard and heavy wood with good technical properties but difficult to work. It is usually used in fine cabinetmaking.

PADOUK

 

Nome scientifico: "Pterocarpus soyauxii"

Provenienza: Thailandia, Laos, Cambogia,

Vietnam (Asia tropocale).

Caratteristiche: è un legno dal colore che va dal rosso all'arancio intenso appena lavorato, poi tende a scurirsi diventando bruno ramato. È considerato un legno esotico e raro, la cui esclusività ne accresce il valore.Il Padouk è classificato tra i legni duri e molto resistenti il che gli conferisce un’ottima resistenza agli urti e all’usura. é utilizzato sopratutto dai designer di interni per parquet o mobilio di pregio ad alto impatto visivo.

Origin: Thailandia, Laos,  Cambogia, Vietnam (Tropocal Asia).
Characteristics: It is a wood whose color ranges from red to bright orange when freshly worked, later darkening to a coppery brown. Considered an exotic and rare wood, its exclusivity enhances its value. Padouk is classified among the hardwoods and is highly resistant, which gives it excellent resistance to impact and wear. It is mainly used by interior designers for parquet flooring and high-end furniture with strong visual impact.

TEAK BURMA

 

Nome scientifico: "Tectona grandis"

Provenienza: Myanmar (Asia)

Caratteristiche: Il teak Burma è un legno nobile e di grande pregio, rinomato per la sua straordinaria durezza, stabilità dimensionale e impermeabilità. Caratterizzato da un colore dorato che può virare al bronzo o al rossastro e da venature nere e verdastre, contiene una resina oleosa naturale che lo rende resistente all'acqua. La sua capacità di sopportare escursioni termiche e umidità lo rende ideale per esterni e materiale principe nelle costruzioni nautiche.

Characteristics: Burma teak is a noble and highly prized wood, renowned for its extraordinary hardness, dimensional stability, and waterproofness. Characterized by a golden color that can veer toward bronze or reddish, and black and greenish grain, it contains a natural oily resin that makes it water resistant. Its ability to withstand temperature fluctuations and humidity makes it ideal for outdoor use and a primary material in boatbuilding.

Nulla è stato lasciato al caso, dal meccanismo di sgancio alle aste, alla più piccola delle viti, non utilizziamo nulla di commerciale, bensì: progettazioni dedicate in abbinamento ai materiali top del mercato.

      RASTRELLIERA PACCO GOMME

      Caratteristiche: 

      • Rastrelliera unica con un nuovo sistema di pulegge studiato e realizzato per organizzare e supportare il carico delle gomme su sistemi Demo (demoltiplicati), FusionK Demo e FusionK Demo Invert. 

      • La puleggia è stata tornita dal pieno in polimero autolubrificante PEEK.

      • Le gomme vengono unite al carrello tramite piccoli cilindri dalla forma a clessidra, vincolandole centralmente e garantendo un carico degli elastici simmetrico e ben bilanciato con tutta la struttura.

      • Il telaio, realizzato in acciaio INOX AISI 316, è composto da due piastre spesse 1,5mm, così da ridurre al minimo il peso.

      • L’asse della puleggia, di tipo “passante”, è stato pensato per garantire la tenuta di qualsiasi carico senza compromettere il funzionamento della struttura.

      • Può montare fino a 7 elastici, ottimizzando l’ingombro e mantenendone il corretto posizionamento. Questo sistema garantisce il massimo delle prestazioni e dell’affidabilità.

      • The pulley is CNC-machined from solid self-lubricating PEEK polymer.

      • Rubbers are connected to the carriage via small hourglass-shaped cylinders, centrally anchored to ensure symmetrical and well-balanced tension across the entire structure.

      • The frame is made of AISI 316 stainless steel and consists of two 1.5mm thick plates to minimize weight.

      • The pulley shaft is of the “through-type” design, engineered to withstand any load without compromising system functionality.

      • Supports up to 7 rubber bands, optimizing space and maintaining precise alignment. This system ensures maximum performance and reliability.

      DYNEEMA PSK ULTRA

       

      Caratteristiche: 

      • Dyneema "nudo" di derivazione nautica  pensato appositamente per ottimizzare lo scorrimento dei nostri sistemi propulsivi.
      • Impregnazione con resina Poliuretanica PU per migliorare le performance di scorrimento (diventa scivoloso a contatto con l'acqua)
      • Sistema di prestiratura a caldo HS per previnire l'allungamento.
      • Trattamento antitaglio.
